Northern Marine Manning Services has recently added ECDIS Generic equipment to its state of the art training facility in Glasgow and is now offering ECDIS training in compliance with the STCW code.
Building on an established portfolio of specialist marine courses, the ECDIS course will allow serving officers and navigation trainees to gain the required background knowledge of ECDIS with regard to the legislation, limitations and safe use of ECDIS as a primary source of navigational information.
The course has been laid out following the guidance of the I.M.O. model course (1.27) for ECDIS (2010 ed.) in compliance with the requirements of A-II/1, A-II/2 and A-II/3 of the STCW code (as revised Manila 2010).
"We are pleased that we are now able to offer both generic and type specific training. The new 5 day course will include a series of short lectures, demonstrations and practical ECDIS use in both static and dynamic simulated exercise modes" says Drew Strannigan, Head of Training at NMMS.
This course has already been approved by the MCA and is available now.
