Security was at the top of the training agenda during a special week of classes at Northern Marine's Training Centre in Glasgow.
Security Week featured a range of courses including Shipboard Security Officer, Company Security Officer, Proficiency in Security Awareness and Proficiency in Designated Security Duties.
John McConnon of North Star Shipping, attended the Company Security Officer course to achieve MCA certification for his new role as Company Security Officer on board Emergency Response and Rescue Vessels and Platform Supply vessels based in the North Sea.
During the course attendees covered content such as ISPS/SOLAS overview, security equipment, duties and responsibilities, emergencies planning and contigency plans.
Upon completion of the course John said: "This excellent course, presented clearly and concisely was invaluable to me in my role. North Star is committed to the safety and security of everyone on board our vessels and the content of this training has given me even greater confidence and competence in fulfilling our legal obligations and ship security assessments."
