Northern Marine tanker fleet officers were welcomed to a seminar at Alba House on Thursday 3 March.
Over thirty officers of various ranks attended the regional event, during which they received company updates, procedural information and guidance, as well as the opportunity to participate in an open forum.
John Harding, Director of Ship Management welcomed attendees before presentations and interactive demonstrations were delivered on a variety of themes by Northern Marine staff including environmental compliance, energy efficiency, vetting, fleet safety and security.
Barrie Finlayson, Fleet Personnel Manager, was pleased with the attendance and participation during the event.
He said: “We are grateful to the officers, some of whom travelled great distances, for attending and participating in the seminar.
“Seminars of this type offer an excellent opportunity to further communicate and discuss, in person, key operational information and guidance.
“Officers contributed greatly during the open forum which is always wholly encouraged. This two way communication allows management to answer questions and provide further clarity and advice on issues which have been raised.”
It was the first time trainee officers had been invited to a seminar of this type, and those in attendance were eager to participate in discussions, while experienced masters and chief engineers gave insightful feedback on operational issues they felt deserved consideration.
The event was followed by an officers’ dinner in Glasgow.
