Seafarers join Virtual Safety Week

22nd Jun 2020

Northern Marine’s series of Live Virtual Safety Week Seminars continued in June with seafarers and onshore colleagues joining the event from their homes across the world.

Officers from India, Latvia, Romania, Russia and Ukraine joined the three-day event as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to prevent face to face Company meetings.

Environmental Compliance, Risk Management and Accident & Incident Investigation were some of the topics covered in the Training courses, while updates on Crewing, Operations and Company vision were also delivered by senior management.

Capt Mikhail Kutuzov joined the course from his home in Russia.

He said: “The Live Virtual Safety Week Training Seminar was organized at a good level; I had a feeling that I was in an audience with colleagues and I personally learned a lot of new information from this training. I am sure that the knowledge gained will be useful to me in further work.”

Second Engineer Karthik Panneerselvam joined the call from India. He added: “It was a completely new experience for me, and I appreciate the way the Clyde Training Solutions and Northern Marine team implemented it.

“Sitting with senior management and learning the Company's plan & strategy for the near future was indeed informative. I learned several key features of information that will greatly improve my leadership.

“The workshop was very interactive, which benefited all the participants enormously. We had the opportunity to present our ideas in the topics and discuss how to make them better.”

Ko Ko Naing, Head of HSEQ, Northern Marine added: “Many thanks to everyone who joined the latest in the series of Live Virtual Safety Weeks.

“Our commitment to ensuring the highest safety standards across our managed fleet of vessels is paramount, and today’s technology has allowed us to continue with our seminars with minimum disruption to our schedule.

“As always participation was excellent with each attendee contributing well.”
